BH-2 Class      Battleship      Gorn Alliance

CLICK ABOVE FOR A DOUBLE-SIZE BLUEPRINT

EVEN THOUGH GORN TECHNOLOGY LAGS SORELY BEHIND that of the Federation, Romulans, and the Klingon Empire, the BH-2 is not a ship to be trifled with.  This behemoth—one wonders if the word "behemoth" is where the FASA writers got the letters BH?—can flatten you with a frontal assault more deadly than that of an Enterprise/Constitution heavy cruiser.  It has more superstructure than a Romulan Z-1 or a Federation Excelsior—equal to that of the Type B L-24—and will easily go toe-to-toe with all but the largest enemy vessels; coming out victorious in most cases.  So even though the Gorn get short shrift in Trek canon, and are relegated to the role of minor curiosity by the time of ST:TNG, in game terms the Gorn battleship is a monster that deserves respect.  Kind of like the brute that fought Kirk in ST:TOS "Arena."
For 2019-2020 I finally got around to re-drawing the BH-2, while on military deployment.  The three original BH-2 aspects of the class had never agreed with each other very well.  Especially the forward view when compared to the side view.  Clearly, the side view shows bulky warp pylons and a dorsal weapons turret which are not in evidence on the forward view.  As always, I extrapolated a ventral and stern view as best as I could, given the originals.  I also guesstimated a size comparison with the Constitution Refit.  Since the Gorn are physically much larger than humans, I assume their decks will be much roomier.  Likewise, their technology is more massive, at the same time it's more primitive.  So while the original recognition chart never gives dimensions, I figure the BH-2 roughly compares as depicted.
I also made the assumption that the BH-2 would be a class with a very long service life, given the substantial amount of time and materials invested in its construction.  There is precious little in the FASA books to tell us if the BH-2 was still operating by the time of ST:TNG and ST:DS9, but I think that it most probably is.  Much like the Excelsior class.  So, I've give additional stats for BH-2 refits and upgrades roughly to the time of ST:TNG.
